Opening Celebration

The Virtue Center to celebrate opening of new building Sept. 14

Public invited to see important new asset for treating addiction, supporting mental health

NORMAN, OK - The Virtue Center announced today that the public is invited to see inside its just-completed new building, 2457 Wilcox Drive in Norman. Guided, interactive tours are set to start at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, with a ribbon-cutting scheduled at 10.

It will be a celebration with brunch-themed bites and mocktail mimosas, and an opportunity for the community to see the important work the Virtue Center is doing to provide help and hope to people battling addiction and mental health issues.

It’s the culmination of a multi-year, $4.3 million campaign to design, build and furnish this newest community asset, starting with the fundraising required to make it all happen. In all, more than 400 donors contributed, ranging from large, statewide philanthropic foundations to local businesses and individuals. By far, the biggest source of support for the new building has come from individuals in the community with an interest in helping people win their battles with addiction and related mental health challenges.

“This beautiful new facility simply would not be possible without the generous support of our local community,” said Chris Moxley, president of The Virtue Center Board of Directors. “Our mission is to provide help and hope to people who need it most. Everything about The Virtue Center is designed to do just that. We’re pleased and proud to welcome our community inside the new building to see what their investment has done and – more important – will do going forward.”

It is a welcoming and therapeutic environment, designed to promote healing for teens, adults, and families. It is a safe place of help and hope for people to heal and thrive. It is a 14,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility to provide comprehensive treatment services for alcohol and drug addiction and mental health challenges.

Near I-35 and Lindsey Street, the new building provides increased visibility and easy access, enabling The Virtue Center to serve more people. It also provides expanded capacity for Intensive outpatient services so people can receive help without leaving home.

It is intended to be a true asset to central Oklahoma, with spaces for staff and community partners to work more collaboratively. For information, please contact:
